Four Day Countdown

I’m trying to hit that magic number.  You know, that magic number on the scale, as logic-defying as it may be, that makes you feel confident among a group of people.  I struggled with the right word to say there.  In actuality, better words may be liberated or mentally unencumbered.  Confident has connotations that I don’t intend.  In any case, I’m about 3 lbs away from that number.

Later this week I’m going to a family reunion for my dad’s birthday and I’m slightly puffy.  Here’s my excuse:  the six-week grading period just ended and I’ve been sitting still grading papers, about 500+ of them.  Despite my department’s “no late work” rule, students who do nothing for six weeks suddenly care that they are failing and a flood of work piles onto my desk.  Not just any work, typically these papers need a ton of editing and commentary.  To make a long story short, I’ve been sitting in my cozy chair editing or walking very, very slowly at my treadmill desk.  Lastly, the stress of the number of papers, knowing that I’m breaking my own rule by grading them, combined with angry thoughts about my teeny-tiny paycheck surely raise my cortisol and cause me to hold onto a few pounds.

I decided to post this in my blog because, even though very few people may read it, it keeps me accountable just to remember that I typed this.  So, I’m going to delineate my game plan for the days before the party here:

**No alcohol**  Boooo!!!**

Monday:

5 AM – Gym work out – focus on back and legs

Day food: teeny tiny pack of almonds (no oil)
Lots of water with turmeric and ginseng
McD chicken salad for lunch
boiled egg snacks until dinner

Dinner:     1 sausage
Kale salad with apple cider vinegar

***Finish laundry, clean house, help daughter with homework, pack everyone’s bags***

Tuesday:

5AM – Home gym arms and run

Day Food:  2 small packs of dry roasted almonds
Lots of water with turmeric and ginseng
6 boiled eggs
Fredericksburg Dijon mustard to obliterate the egg taste

Dinner:  (I won’t be going home until bed time)
drive thru burger with no bun
water

Wednesday:

5 AM – Cardio – We’re starting our road trip after work and I don’t want to be sore:

Day Food:  2 small packs of dry roasted almonds
Lots of water with turmeric and ginseng
6 boiled eggs
Fredericksburg Dijon mustard to obliterate the egg taste

Dinner:  We are beginning our road trip before dinner
drive thru burger with no bun  OR drive thru salad with no dressing
water

Thursday:

5AM – Hotel Cardio

Breakfast: Coffee and hotel eggs

Lunch: drive thru chicken salad with no dressing

Dinner:  I’ll be at mom’s.  God only knows what she has in store for us.

My plan might backfire because of the low calorie count. Further, my mom’s scale is pretty old.  We’ll see.  I’ll let you know how it goes.
